The Atwood collection touches on many modern trends including updated floral window shades, geometric patterns with fluidity, and traditional window fashions revived in new, and playful ways.
Floral Prints
Younger generations are honing in on the feel of grandma’s house but with modern sophistication. Granny chic design takes traditional elements and adds a contemporary aesthetic for a style that feels very fashion-forward but also very familiar. Playing with proportion on floral prints, using abstract floral design, or showcasing colors not traditionally thought of as floral are three examples of modern interpretations of floral window shades.
Floral Stamp in the Atwood collection makes unique floral window shades because of both its inspiration and execution. Instead of pulling inspiration from a flower in full bloom, Atwood described the print as “...like when you come across petals scattered along the sidewalk in the spring.” The inspiration was then brought to life with organic elements, using a hand-carved potato stamp. The resulting print is textural and looks great on Design Studio™ Roman shades or roller shades.
Geometric Patterns
Many styles of modern interior design embrace the alluring lines of geometric patterns. This style of print works especially well in black and white color schemes because contrast brings out the geometric design. Traditional Damask
Like the reinvention of floral prints in granny chic design, many traditional patterns like quatrefoils or damask are also reemerging in modern styles with contemporary interpretations of classic norms. Design Studio™ Drapery has the right amount of panache and design authority to carry traditional design without feeling dated or dull. In rooms where full drapery isn’t needed, side panels can also carry the style because their controlled placement complements more traditional senses of style.
Atwood’s more playful use of line work, which is popular with modern design because of the fluidity it gives to repetitive patterns, works well to bring traditional elements into contemporary spaces. Her Ornament print is a watercolor drawing of a traditional damask pattern that is light and dimensional but still showcases its more formal and traditional inspiration.
