We Love Quincy, IL
Quincy, IL, sits on the Mississippi River and was once a bustling hub of commerce. The Historic Downtown area pays tribute to this rich history with many elegant structures ranging in style from Italianate to Richardsonian Romanesque. In the middle of downtown, you can find Washington Park. The site for the sixth Lincoln-Douglas debate in 1858, the park has a farmer’s market on Saturdays and live music on the 2nd and 4th Friday evenings during the summer months.
Other Attractions
In the historic East End of the city, you can visit the Newcomb-Stillwell Museum. Built in the Richardsonian Romanesque style in 1890-91 for the founder of the Quincy Paper Company, Richard F. Newcomb, the museum’s first floor features dazzling restored interiors with 14-karat gold woodwork. The upper two floors feature fascinating exhibits about the city, and the basement features a wine cellar and bowling alley.
The Dogwood Festival is held annually in late April or early May. Quincy, IL, is one of the northernmost places where the dogwood tree can thrive, and the city loves to celebrate this. The festival features a parade, performers and vendors in Washington Park, and a family-friendly block party.
Catch a show at the Quincy Community Theatre (QCT). Founded in 1923, the theatre offers major productions, touring performances, and various classes and workshops during the year. QCT utilizes the talents and resources available in the Tri-State area to advance local theatre by providing professional performances accessible to all and top-rate educational opportunities.
Family is essential to our community, and Scotties Family Fun Spot is a fantastic place to take your kids. Located just outside of town on three acres, the venue offers go-karts, laser tag, bumper cars, and an Outback-themed mini golf course. After you’ve worked up an appetite, stop by the grill area for pizza, burgers, and ice cream. Scotties Fun Spot is also an excellent place to throw your child an unforgettable birthday party.
You’ll also want to discover the many local restaurants offering all fare types. Boodalu Steakhouse is housed in a restored 1872 building on the Mississippi River and has a casual yet classy atmosphere. The menu selections include steaks, chicken, fish, and pasta dishes, and all meat is sourced from farms in Central Iowa. If you’re looking for an intimate, elegant date night experience, consider Tiramisu. The restaurant offers authentic Italian fine dining and features an extensive wine list. Thyme Square Cafe is a reasonably priced eatery that offers vegan and gluten-free options. Dine in for breakfast or lunch, and purchase handmade bread, French macarons, and local meats.

The owner came to our home an hour away from their store and measured, listened to our wants and needs, and used their expertise to make suggestions for what would work with our older window frame. They helped with getting the right style shade, color, material, etc. the installer was friendly, capable and it was up in no time. We are very happy with our Roman shade and look forward to using them again. Highly recommend.
